Armie Hammer in rehab after car accident with fiancée Elizabeth Chambers

Armie Hammer has left a rehabilitation facility and is “doing great,” according to his attorney.

The actor, who has a young daughter, was involved in a car accident in November that led to him being hospitalized. The accident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on Nov. 30, when a Porsche driven by his fiancée, Elizabeth Chambers, careened into a tree on East 37th Street in the East Village of Manhattan, according to the New York Police Department. Police officials estimated the Porsche was traveling at 88 mph.

Hammer was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries. A police source had told The Associated Press that Chambers was also hospitalized, but that she was later released.

The actor, who plays the Winklevoss twins in the upcoming movie “The Social Network,” faced a lawsuit from the couple’s former neighbors, Daniel Young and his father, Gary Young, who claimed that a drunken Hammer passed out in their neighbor’s $2 million apartment and crashed through its skylight. Mr. Young, who is still pending the lawsuit, told The Hollywood Reporter that he hoped to get him into rehab.

Mr. Young said at the time of the accident that he called his wife to send him a “massive blast of champagne” after he saw Mr. Hammer in the window. She then called for help.

Mr. Young said he was given a statement from Hammer that suggested he hadn’t been driving his Porsche at the time of the crash. He said Hammer claimed to have rear-ended the power fence behind his house. “That’s not the truth,” Mr. Young said.

Mr. Hammer’s attorney, Martin Singer, said, “Armie will deal with the lawsuits filed against him by Mr. Young and his father in a court of law and not in the media.”
