‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ suspended over drugs testing

Erika Jayne, Lisa Rinna, and Garcelle Beauvais are reportedly all “shocked” to learn that the trio tested positive for benzodiazepines following an alcohol detox procedure, causing production of the Bravo show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to be delayed until they have their drugs tested and cleared.

“At this point, it’s unconfirmed that the women did take the prescription pills. It’s a really difficult situation,” a source told People, explaining that the crew was told that all filming “must cease until the women are cleared.”

Amid the controversy, the show’s executive producer, Eden Sassoon, has taken to social media to explain the reasons behind the suspension. “The women recently all underwent a detox at one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills facilities. They were all given help and guidance to kick drugs and alcohol,” she wrote in a lengthy post, which garnered the support of Lisa Vanderpump. “It was a very unpleasant experience for all of them. One of our cast mates is now worried about her health. I’m well aware of the cost of continuing filming, but I just feel this was a course of action we should have taken.”

After voicing her support for the treatment process, she addressed reports that several of the cast members had tested positive for benzodiazepines and vran and banned by casting. “For the record, this isn’t as bad as was reported,” she wrote. “These are very popular but legal pills. No furthurly abused and in moderation, these pills are very useful for us.”

In light of the suspension, Bravo confirmed that the show would return in early June, although the characters have not yet met with producers and have not been officially cleared to film.
