Tennis superstar Andy Murray is engaged, discovers lost wedding ring, has back surgery – and appears on Snapchat

Andy Murray was suffering the strain of back and hip pain just before the Australian Open and he began training again with his long-time coach Ivan Lendl at the end of January. The Scottish tennis star made a good start to the season with a series of wins over the likes of Roger Federer and David Goffin, but after reaching the Wimbledon final he could not carry on for long as he battled hip pains, and was forced to retire from his US Open semi-final against Stan Wawrinka.

In August, Lendl came out of retirement to work with Murray once again, and the British player was said to be feeling as if he had found a new love in his new coach, as he reported that he “feels back to my best, like I did before Wimbledon”.

And it seems that Murray, who married former childhood sweetheart Kim Sears in 2015, has started to put the pain behind him after telling the people of Snapchat he had found a ring given to him by Sears in 2008. Murray said he was so “excited” that he decided to fling it on the ground, revealing the weird yet charming tale. He added,”I found a wedding ring from a few years ago.… I popped it on the ground and thought ‘Oh my God, why has it been in the grass for so long?’”

Murray then said the ring “wasn’t all that good”, but said “It was nice to find.”

Tennis fans were quick to praise the former world number one for his honesty in sharing his personal life with the public, with many Tweeting, “What the hell you done @andy_murray?”

However, the ring wasn’t the only major news Murray shared on Snapchat. He also told fans that he was having surgery on his back, revealing, “It’s what I should have done a long time ago” and “I’ve got some really bad pain going on and I knew the benefits of having it done.”

But as Murray explained, the surgery is “a process so I’m just not going to be back this year but hopefully next year.”
