Vicky Gardner, a 16-year-old aspiring female off-road racer, has finished fifth at the British Off-Road Athlete Championships (BOOCC).

The event – part of the Track Sprint series – took place at Goodwood Park.

Gardner has represented Great Britain at World Junior Off-Road Racing Championships and World Under-18 Off-Road Cycling Championships.

She has an operation this month and is hoping to compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Gardner beat 50 other women’s teams on her way to winning the 17 to 19 years’ category.

She had spent the past week competing in a number of hill climbs at the mountainside event.

The next BOOCC in the men’s and women’s category will be held in April.

Meanwhile, Briton Kate Culley won British Freestyle Snowsport titles at the weekend.

The 28-year-old won the women’s freestyle in Lake Louise, Canada.

Of her performance, she said: “It was a really tough competition so it was lovely to win it.”
